AN AUTUMNAL MEAL AT CROMEY

AN EVENING WITH BERNARD

Those of you who have been to Cromey will recognize this fellow.
Bernard Picard was born on the property, and returned home recently for his early retirement.  His house is now officially the Cromey gatehouse, and Bernard is the  estate’s guardian, overseeing the park and gardens.

If it weren’t for Bernard, Cromey would soon revert to jungle.  So every time we stroll down under the cedar tree or out to the vegetable patch, we quietly thank Bernard.

Now that the season is winding down, and we’re starting to feel autumnal, our buddy Bernard is coming round for a quiet evening and a true Burgundian feast.  Starting with snails and going on to a magnificent potee (with bio pork and vegetables from the potager), then a Mont d’Or cheese (that we’ll throw into the fire, as you do) and some baked apples.
