Eleanor Garvin and Dennis Sherman

Eleanor Garvin and Dennis Sherman have lived in the Burgundian region of France since the summer of 1983, when they left the United States in hopes of apprenticeing with great French chefs.

They have worked wine harvests in Avignon, as the chef du picnic for a hot air balloon company, owned a one-hundred-year-old barge, Le Papillon, that slept six, started a wine exporting company proprietors of the Domaine de Cromey.

Ellie is a masterful chef devoted to the clean tastes of French ‘haute cuisine.’ Having lived more than 30 years in Burgundy, she has made this region’s cuisine her own. She is also the author of the cookbook ‘At Home in Burgundy: The Papillon Recipes.’

Dennis is a wine merchant and professional taster who ships small-production, estate-bottled Burgundy wines to the United States via burgundywine.com. He is also a specialist ‘gastronomic’ tour guide with experience throughout Europe.

Story Ideas

  • Domaine de Cromey offers a unique insight into the great region of Burgundy, where the uniqueness lies in its meticulous focus on terroir, the mastery of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the tradition of winemaking, the patchwork of small vineyards, the AOC classification system, and the region's deep cultural and historical ties to winemaking. This combination of factors makes Burgundy a genuinely exceptional wine region. This isn't just a vacation; it's an immersive voyage into the heart of Burgundy's culture, where every moment is blended to exceed expectations. Burgundy is famed for small vineyards like Cromey known as "climats." Each climat has its own unique microclimate and soil composition, contributing to the diversity of flavors within a relatively small geographical area. Burgundy's wine making culture is deeply intertwined with its history and heritage. Monasteries, châteaux, and ancient cellars contribute to the region's picturesque landscape, reflecting a centuries-old commitment to the art and craft of winemaking.

  • There are two ways a House Party can be done: The first is when the guest comes with a group of friends and/or family and has the place to themselves. A typical House Party is usually made up of 10 or 12 guests. And Cromey can host up to 14 in an extra suite if needed. The second is the Mix & Meet weeks, perfect for those who don't want to put together a large group but still want to enjoy the Burgundy House Party experience.

The price for a week for our exceptional Burgundy House Parties, including your own private chef, concierge services, culinary food, library wines, luxury tours to famous sites, wine tastings, and more, is $66,000 for the whole group for the entire week. We offer a lower rate for smaller groups and shorter stays, which we occasionally offer. Complete the booking form, and we'll provide all the necessary details.

The second option, Mix & Meet, where individual couples can join in and be part of a group, is $5900 per person per week and includes all the same luxury and benefits of the Burgundy House Party. It is a perfect way to enjoy the Burgundy House Party experience for those who don't want to put together a larger group.

Either way, your House Party includes luxury accommodation, world-class cuisine, fine Burgundy wines, private tours with our expert guides, and wine tastings with winemakers and our team sommelier.
